Finance for the people who look after everyone else

Essential Finance exists for the practices, centres and providers that communities can't do without.

Essential Finance arranges business finance for Australia's essential-services operators — medical and dental practices, allied health, childcare centres, aged care and NDIS providers, pharmacies and vet clinics — for fit-outs, equipment, buying a practice and cash flow around government payment cycles.

Who we help

Our clients run the places people turn to when they need care: the GP clinic down the road, the dental surgery, the physio who gets them walking again, the specialist rooms, the early learning centre, the home care team, the NDIS provider, the local pharmacy and the vet. These businesses share something that makes them different from most small businesses. Much of their income depends on government programs and payment cycles, their costs are dominated by skilled people, and their premises and equipment are specialised and expensive.

That combination can confuse lenders who don't see it often. A clinic that's busy but waiting on a quarterly incentive, a provider growing so fast that claims can't keep up with payroll, or a centre that's still filling its rooms can look riskier on paper than it really is. We focus on these sectors so we can read the numbers the way they should be read.

What we help with

  • Fit-outs and refurbishments: consulting rooms, surgeries, treatment spaces, dispensaries and playrooms.
  • Equipment: diagnostic, imaging, dental, rehab, vet, pharmacy and care equipment, and vehicles.
  • Buying or buying into a practice, pharmacy or centre, and buying your premises.
  • Growth: a second site, extra rooms, new services and the staff to deliver them.
  • Cash flow around NDIS, Support at Home, Child Care Subsidy, Medicare incentives and PBS timing.
  • Tax debt, including ATO and payroll tax, considered case by case.

Property-secured business loans from $20,000 to $5,000,000 (first mortgages, second mortgages and caveat loans over residential or commercial property). Unsecured, cash-flow and line-of-credit options for trading practices and providers, typically $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements. Past credit issues and ATO debt considered case by case. We arrange business finance only. We don't arrange personal loans, and we don't lend to patients, residents, participants or families for care costs.

The promises we make

No credit check to enquire

Asking what's possible leaves your credit file untouched. A credit check only comes up once you choose to proceed.

No spray-and-pray

Your enquiry isn't auctioned off to a list of lenders. One team reads it and matches it with care.

A real person on your file

A specialist who understands practices and care providers calls you. Accurate form answers mean the right option on the first call.

In plain terms: asking what's possible won't touch your credit file. Your enquiry isn't sold on or blasted out to a list of lenders, so your phone won't light up with strangers. A real person who understands your sector reads what you've told us and calls you. And because we want to get it right on the first call, we ask you to fill in the form carefully and accurately.

How we work

Every enquiry starts with a short form, about 60 seconds, then a phone call. We want to understand what you're funding, how your business gets paid, what security (if any) is available, and what a comfortable repayment looks like for you. From there we explain realistic options: property-secured, unsecured, or a combination. You decide whether to go ahead. Only then do documents and a credit check come into it. See how it works for the full process.

We don't publish interest rates. Every facility is priced on the business's own circumstances, and a headline number would only mislead. We'd rather give you a real answer once we understand your situation.

Our guides and tools

We publish plain-English guides on the questions practice owners ask, researched from official sources such as the ATO, business.gov.au, the NDIA, the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, Services Australia and state revenue offices. Our fit-out and equipment calculator and claims gap calculator help you plan before you talk to anyone. Browse the guides, or start with your sector.
